A bunion is a bump on the side or on top of your big toe joint, which may hurt while wearing shoes or walking.
Your bunions may get red, swollen or painful. If the bunion causes persistent pain and tenderness, then it is time to seek medical treatment.
In the picture above, you can see that the bunion has caused a hammertoe of the 2nd toe. The big toe has actually pushed the 2nd toe out of its place, lifting the 2nd toe up.
